About the role
We're looking for a Commodity Manager to lead procurement strategy for a plastics and chemicals manufacturer with facilities across the US. This role owns sourcing for resins, TiO2, carbon black, and chemical additives, and plays a key part in driving cost savings, supply continuity, and supplier performance across the business.
Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing requirements across US facilities, maintaining detailed vendor data, pricing history, and contracts
- Lead supplier selection, quotation processes, total cost of ownership analysis, and contract negotiations
- Conduct market analysis to track trends, cost drivers, and technology shifts in the supply base
- Build strong supplier relationships through site visits, audits, and performance evaluations
- Develop commodity strategies to maximize purchasing leverage and cost efficiency
- Lead cost reduction workshops and corrective action processes
- Partner cross functionally with Procurement, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Quality, Sales, Technical Services, and Operations to mitigate supply risk
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Chemistry, or a related field
- 5+ years of procurement experience, ideally in plastics or chemicals
- Strong background in supplier relationship management and strategic sourcing
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI skills (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central a plus)
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documents
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Comfort managing multiple projects independently
- Willingness to travel as needed
Pay
$95,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on experience
