What You'll Be Doing
The Commodity & Materials Program Manager is a cross-functional supply chain role responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that support both existing product portfolios and future product development initiatives. This position combines the commercial responsibilities of a Commodity Manager with the supplier development and new product introduction responsibilities of a Materials Program Manager.
- Serve as the primary interface and partner with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and the supplier community to ensure supplier capabilities, technologies, capacity, quality, and cost structures support both current business objectives and future product roadmaps.
- Identify, develop, qualify, and manage suppliers that provide components, assemblies, OEM products, finished goods, materials, and manufacturing technologies critical to the company's growth strategy.
- Lead supplier engagement from early concept development through production launch while driving supplier performance, cost competitiveness, risk mitigation, and long-term strategic partnerships.
- Develop contingency plans and alternate sourcing strategies for all scenarios within NPI, HVM, and OEM spaces.
- Routinely conduct supplier capability assessments covering technical expertise, manufacturing readiness, scalability, quality systems, and financial stability.
- Manage supplier transitions, product transfers, and end-of-life activities to meet customer expectations.
- Lead supplier business reviews and performance management processes.
Skills and Experience
- Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, operations, or related discipline; 6+ years of experience in commodity management, supplier development, strategic sourcing, program management, product development support, or related disciplines.
- Preferred: Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, supplier quality systems, and NPI processes; CPSM, CSCP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent certifications; MBA or advanced technical degree.
