About the role

This position loads and unloads products at a soybean crushing and biodiesel plant. Primary functions include loading trucks and railcars with product or unloading beans in receiving as assigned. The role involves complying with all applicable Company and government regulations, including grading incoming grain to determine acceptable quality and rejecting loads that do not meet Company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold all LDC policies and standards, abide by work rules, and complete all required training.
  • Load final product onto trucks and railcars to ensure timely delivery.
  • Unload grain trucks and railcars to meet daily production schedules.
  • Inspect material handling equipment and perform routine adjustments and minor maintenance.
  • Oversee and operate the meal loading and receiving area via HMI, making field adjustments as needed.
  • Report equipment issues to Shift Leaders promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with Company safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including housekeeping tasks such as control room trash removal and snow removal.
  • Perform small maintenance tasks (e.g., patching holes, changing shear pins, clearing plugged equipment).
  • Complete tasks assigned by Superintendents and Shift Supervisors.
  • Actively participate in shift/team activities, including best practices, standard operating procedures, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Attain Level 1 Rail training to assist in basic railyard functions.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (technical degree preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience in an industrial environment.
  • Experience operating skid loaders, front-end loaders, and/or forklifts.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Ability to operate machinery and computer systems while complying with regulatory safety requirements (OSHA, EPA, USDA, ISO 9000, B-Q-9000).
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights, manage confined space entry, and withstand extended periods of walking and standing.
  • Ability to lift and move manufacturing materials, products, and equipment of 50 pounds or more, requiring bending and lifting.
  • Mechanical aptitude, effective communication skills, basic math, and fundamental PC skills.
  • Preferred: 6+ months of experience in truck and railcar loading/unloading, including rail tank and car loading.

Working Conditions

  • Safety-sensitive position within a 24/7 plant operation.
  • Regular exposure to varying temperatures, gases, vapors, dust, odors, flammable liquids, wet floors, and high noise levels.
  • Heavy lifting, stair climbing, and extended periods of walking and standing required.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and government regulations.
  • Occasional extended working hours to complete time-sensitive projects or respond to emergencies.

Equipment Used

  • Production machinery and operating equipment with dials, gauges, and controls.
  • Computers for data entry and equipment control.
  • Occupational health and safety testing equipment (e.g., air monitors) in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
