Commodity Buying Manager

About the role
As Commodity Buying Manager reporting to the Head of Purchasing, you will lead assigned commodities/components and buyers toward the development of local strategies and achievement of KPIs, including IPCO, Working Capital, and Quality targets, as well as supply risk and change management activities for BU2 Plants and Locations.
Responsibilities
- Lead Electrical and Elastomer Purchasing for BU2 Plants and Locations in the NA Region for a centralized commodity-based organization for both Series production and Development Projects.
- Lead a team of Commodity Buyers (6) responsible for all components within these commodity groups.
- Coordinate closely with global lead-buy purchasing members internationally to ensure North American integration and alignment into global initiatives.
- Lead contract negotiations with suppliers within these commodity groups.
- Develop strategies and achieve KPIs, including IPCO, Working Capital, and Quality targets, as well as manage supply risk and change management activities.
- Support all OEM Customers and MAHLE plants to ensure continuity of supply.
- Coordinate team activities across other functional areas within the company to ensure objectives are met.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to senior management on various topics.
- Coordinate and lead workshops with suppliers to drive cost savings initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited 4-year College or University.
- 10 years of purchasing management experience in the automotive industry.
- 3 years of leadership experience preferred.
- Specific experience and knowledge related to Electrical and Elastomer components preferred.
- Production Material and Department Budget development experience preferred.
- A strong entrepreneurial mindset and initiative/skills.
- Good technical knowledge of SAP.
