Job Title: Commissioning TechnicianJob Description This Commissioning Technician role focuses on supporting complex industrial automation and critical facility projects by commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting control systems and electrical infrastructure. You will work with advanced EPMS, automation, power monitoring, and building management technologies, partnering closely with experienced engineers to deliver reliable and high-performing systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Lead and support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and integrated systems testing for industrial automation and critical facility projects.Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, P&IDs, and control drawings to validate system design and ensure accurate implementation.Use electrical test equipment, including multimeters and network diagnostic tools, to verify system performance and identify issues.Validate data accuracy, alarm functionality, device communications, and reporting performance across SCADA, BMS, EPMS, and related systems.Perform commissioning activities for control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication networks.Provide troubleshooting support during commissioning and operational turnover, resolving issues with controls, automation, and electrical systems.Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure successful deployment of skids and systems to mission-critical sites.Work independently to manage daily commissioning tasks, documentation, and test results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Travel as needed to support commissioning and testing activities at customer or mission-critical locations. Essential Skills Associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent field experience in a relevant technical discipline.2+ years of experience in commissioning, controls, electrical systems, industrial automation, or critical facilities.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, P&IDs, and control drawings.Proficiency using electrical test equipment, including multimeters and network diagnostic tools.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in controls, automation, and electrical systems.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Willingness and ability to travel as needed for commissioning support.Experience supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT).Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication networks.Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).Previous experience in data centers, mission-critical environments, or industrial facilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Hands-on experience with industrial automation, SCADA, and BMS systems.Experience leading factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and integrated systems testing.Knowledge of Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or similar automation and power monitoring platforms.Experience with PLC programming and automation troubleshooting.Background in commissioning complex control systems and integrated industrial solutions.Exposure to EPMS, automation, and power monitoring technologies on high-impact projects. Work Environment You will work primarily in a manufacturing facility where skids and systems are assembled and prepared for deployment to mission-critical sites. The role involves a standard schedule of five 8-hour workdays per week, with the potential for varying hours depending on project needs. The position is part of a 5-month project based in Michigan and includes travel to support commissioning activities as required. You will operate in a fast-paced environment using advanced automation, power monitoring, and control technologies, collaborating closely with experienced engineers on complex, high-impact projects. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
