About the role

The Commissioning Superintendent is responsible for overseeing general safety, productivity, schedule, testing, and commissioning of utility-level solar generation facilities. This is a hybrid position; you will work out of your home office and the project sites. This position is expected to travel up to 100%. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Directs solar commissioning personnel and/or subcontractors to achieve completion of the project
  • Support the project team with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for activities
  • Follow and implement the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental Policy
  • Coordinate and implement resources and activities necessary to maintain safety and quality
  • Create and maintain commissioning documentation in accordance with contract requirements
  • Assure that all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance
  • Coordinate with supplier testing & commissioning teams
  • Identify testing required per project scope of work and ITP
  • Communicate with engineering parties to meet commissioning requirements
  • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience supporting the construction of major projects, preferably in the building of power stations or supply networks, or other utility-scale construction projects
  • Solar PV and/or BESS project commissioning experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%
  • Experience with Procore or comparable project management tool
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience reviewing electrical drawings and manuals of installation and design technical packages
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to professionally interact with clients and outside testing agencies/subcontractors
  • Experience operating solar generation facility electrical equipment
  • Experience with energization procedures and operations of substation equipment

Physical Demands

  • Body Position: Frequently remains standing and moving up to 90% of the time in an 8-10 hour workday; if operating equipment, be able to enter and exit equipment up to 90% of the time in an 8-10 hour workday
  • Move/Traverse: Frequently bend, stand, stoop, and/or walk
  • Carry Weight: Frequently carry weight and/or lift objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Stationary Position: Frequently remains stationary up to 90% of the time and sitting up to 8 hours in a day
  • Hearing and Speech: Frequently communicates with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis with employees, coworkers, and all personnel matters; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Sight: Frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far
  • Climb: Occasionally ascends/descends on stairway to get to office upper and lower floors

Work Environment

  • Industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop
  • Mobility Barriers: Uneven ground level, obstructed pathways, work performed at low and/or high elevations, work performed in confined areas
  • Climatic/Environment Conditions: Predominately outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, potential exposure to chemical substances, work performed around hazardous equipment
