About the role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Project Manager to lead the commissioning of complex mission-critical electrical systems supporting hyperscale data centers. This role will focus on the construction, testing, startup, and commissioning of advanced microgrid solutions integrating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with large-scale reciprocating engine power generation. The ideal candidate possesses a strong electrical engineering background and extensive experience commissioning medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, backup generation, switchgear, protection and control systems, and integrated power infrastructure within mission-critical environments. This is a hybrid position requiring periodic travel to project sites throughout North America.
Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning activities for mission-critical data center electrical infrastructure from pre-functional testing through final acceptance.
- Manage commissioning schedules, documentation, and project execution for multiple complex projects.
- Oversee construction verification, equipment startup, integrated systems testing (IST), and functional performance testing.
- Commission large-scale reciprocating engine islanded power generation systems integrated with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Coordinate commissioning of:
- Medium Voltage (MV) electrical distribution systems
- Switchgear
- Protective relays
- Generator control systems
- Engine controls
- Battery Energy Storage Systems
- Microgrid control platforms
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, sequence of operations, commissioning plans, and test procedures.
- Coordinate closely with owners, contractors, equipment manufacturers, design engineers, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Lead issue resolution during startup and commissioning while maintaining project schedules.
- Prepare commissioning reports, punch lists, deficiency tracking, and turnover documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and commissioning best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- Professional Engineer (PE) License (Required)
- 7–10+ years of electrical commissioning experience
- Demonstrated experience commissioning mission-critical Data Center projects
- Strong experience commissioning medium-voltage electrical systems
- Experience with construction, testing, startup, and commissioning of:
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Microgrids
- Reciprocating engine power generation systems
- Islanded power systems
- Thorough understanding of:
- Medium Voltage Switchgear
- Generator Controls
- Protective Relays
- Electrical Distribution Systems
- Engine Controls
- SCADA and control systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and control drawings.
- Excellent communication and project leadership skills.

Schedule
- Hybrid work environment
- Initial travel to assigned project sites to establish project familiarity and support commissioning activities

Pay
$140,000 - $180,000 per year
