About the Role

Commission electrical distribution from utility interface to rack: switchgear, UPS, generators, and EPMS from Level 2 through Level 5. Write and run test scripts covering protection, transfer schemes, and failure scenarios at full load. Oversee NETA testing and vendor startups, verifying results rather than filing them. Run integrated systems tests proving the site rides through utility events the way the design says it will.

The commissioning team is working on standing up the commissioning program for tens to hundreds of gigawatts of capacity this decade, running commissioning and QA-QC for first-of-a-kind modular data centers, and automating Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or execute Level 4 and Level 5 Integrated Systems Testing (IST) for mission-critical facilities.
  • Commission medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems including switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, static transfer switches (STS), generators, busway, and EPMS platforms.
  • Develop commissioning plans, startup procedures, integrated systems test scripts, and turnover documentation.
  • Read and interpret one-line diagrams, protection studies, coordination studies, relay settings, equipment specifications, and electrical schematics.
  • Validate electrical redundancy, transfer schemes, failure modes, and resiliency testing in live mission-critical environments.
  • Oversee NETA testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and vendor startup activities.
  • Troubleshoot electrical distribution systems, protective devices, controls interfaces, and commissioning failures under schedule pressure.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities across electrical, mechanical, controls, network, and operations teams.
  • Drive deficiencies, NCRs, punch-list items, and commissioning findings to closure.
  • Verify protection settings, coordination curves, relay logic, breaker operations, and transfer sequences.
  • Support utility energization, load-bank testing, generator testing, and operational readiness activities.
  • Feed commissioning findings and lessons learned back into design standards, commissioning procedures, and reference designs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience commissioning mission-critical electrical infrastructure including data centers, semiconductor facilities, healthcare facilities, utility infrastructure, or other high-availability environments.
  • Experience commissioning AI, hyperscale, colocation, or modular data center environments (preferred).
  • Medium-voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) commissioning experience (preferred).
  • Protective relay testing experience (SEL, Client, ABB, Schweitzer, etc.) (preferred).
  • EPMS and SCADA platform experience (preferred).
  • NETA Certification (II, III, IV), PE License, CxA, CCP, BCxP, or similar credentials (preferred).
