Fluidstack · San Francisco, CA · 3 wk ago
On-siteEngineering$200k–$250k/yrFull-time

About the role

The Commissioning Team at Fluidstack is responsible for helping stand up a Cx program for 50GW+ of DCs this decade, developing plans for Cx and QA/QC for first-of-a-kind modular data center designs, and driving development and implementation of automated L4/L5 commissioning. This role involves leading the design, development, and commissioning of SCADA, BMS, and EPMS systems across Fluidstack sites in the US and Europe. Key responsibilities include program and configuration of PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs, ensuring they meet site requirements and proving their functionality through FAT and IST before commissioning hands the site to operations. Mentoring and reviewing the work of junior controls engineers across multiple greenfield deployments running in parallel is also part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and commissioning of SCADA, BMS, and EPMS systems across Fluidstack sites in the US and Europe.
  • Develop control system architectures, functional specs, P&IDs, sensor installation details, and SOO templates that other engineers build from on every site after.
  • Program and configure PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs to meet site requirements, then prove they work through FAT and IST before commissioning hands the site to operations.
  • Mentor and review the work of junior controls engineers across multiple greenfield deployments running in parallel.
  • Travel 50 to 70% to project sites to oversee commissioning.

  • Have shipped real code, not just specified it.
  • Worked across PLCs, DCSs, SCADA, and industrial networks at scale.
  • Know which one is the right tool for which job.
  • Communicate well enough to lead a room of trade contractors, design engineers, and owner reps on a live commissioning day.
  • Comfortable owning a project from concept design through commissioning sign-off, across multiple sites at once.

Qualifications

  • PE license.
  • Large-scale data center commissioning experience.
