About the role
The Commissioning Engineer delivers, integrates, and supports our proprietary Airfield Lighting Control & Monitoring System (ALCMS), high-voltage Switchgear (constant current) Regulator System (SGRS), and Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) at airports across the Americas and around the world.
Responsibilities
- Performing on-site commissioning, integration, and testing of ALCMS and SGRS solutions, working with both PC-based and PLC-based control systems.
- Troubleshooting, configuring, and optimizing the complete system, including electrical command (Point I/O), control logic, computer hardware/software, field devices, and all related network and communication interfaces.
- Resolving technical challenges across electrical power systems, computerized control systems, and field instrumentation.
- Configuring, diagnosing, and supporting computer networks (TCP/IP, Modbus) and serial communications (RS-232, RS-485, or similar) as part of system integration and commissioning.
- Coordinating with on-site electrical contractors, manage scheduling, and oversee site preparations.
- Conducting system readiness checks and acceptance testing.
- Collaborating with engineering teams, project managers, and airport customers to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
- Providing technical training and clear documentation for customers and internal teams.
- Participating in technical reviews and contribute insights for continuous system improvement.
- Assisting in bid preparation and technical submittal packages as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology (or higher) in Electrical, Computer, or related engineering field. Candidates with extensive, directly relevant experience in commissioning and integrating complex control systems may be considered even without a formal degree.
- Practical experience in electrical systems, controls, automation, or networked infrastructure.
- 2-4 years of experience in systems integration, field commissioning, or similar technical roles.
- Ability to read and understand electrical, control system, and network schematic drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, comfortable with both hardware and software challenges.
- Effective communicator in English (oral and written); Spanish language skills are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Ability to pass mandatory BCI and FBI background checks.
- International travel experience.
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75-85%, with periods of higher travel during peak project phases) for project delivery and professional development.
