Responsibilities
- Perform Level 1 commissioning activities for conveyor and material handling systems, with a focus on MDR conveyor control.
- Configure and validate 24VDC MDR conveyor control systems, including setup and tuning of MDR control cards.
- Commission ECC MDR control systems and modular sortation (mod sort) equipment, ensuring all components operate according to design specifications.
- Conduct detailed I/O checks, including verification of input and output signals for all field devices and control elements.
- Perform E-Stop checks and validations to confirm proper safety system operation and compliance with required safety standards.
- Verify MDR control functionality, including start/stop logic, zone control, accumulation, and fault handling.
- Set up and configure Safety I/O modules, including safety device integration and safety configuration validation.
- Configure Ethernet/IP networks for MDR control cards and other control devices, ensuring robust and reliable communication.
- Implement and troubleshoot CANBus networks for MDR control systems, including addressing, communication, and diagnostics.
- Use Rockwell/Allen-Bradley control platforms (including Rockwell 5000) to support commissioning, testing, and adjustments.
- Document all testing, verifications, and commissioning results using provided test forms and project documentation standards.
- Collaborate with controls engineering and commissioning teams to resolve issues identified during testing and bring systems to operational readiness.
- Support PLC programming-related commissioning tasks as needed, including minor logic changes or configuration adjustments.
- Ensure all work follows established safety procedures and contributes to a safe working environment during commissioning activities.
- Provide clear status updates and feedback on commissioning progress, issues, and completed tests to project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Hands-on commissioning experience with material handling equipment, specifically Level 1 commissioning of conveyor systems.
- Strong experience with 24VDC MDR (motorized driven roller) conveyor control systems.
- Practical experience with ECC MDR controls and modular sortation (mod sort) systems.
- Proficiency in conducting I/O checks, including verification of inputs, outputs, and field device wiring.
- Experience performing E-Stop checks and safety validation for automated systems.
- Ability to verify MDR control operation, including functional testing and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Safety I/O modules and safety configuration for industrial control systems.
- Experience with Ethernet/IP network configuration for MDR control cards and other industrial control devices.
- Experience working with CANBus networks for MDR control systems.
- Commissioning experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation platforms, including Rockwell 5000.
- Experience in controls engineering or controls-related roles, including exposure to PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Experience in material handling equipment (MHE) environments, particularly conveyor and MDR-based systems.
- Experience in commissioning, PLC programming, and controls engineering, including integration of safety and communication networks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, control, and network layers of automated systems.
- Able to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with cross-functional project teams.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing, validation, and documentation.
