About the role
The Commissioning and Startup (CSU) Test Engineer supports clients at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Y-12 plays a vital role in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Nuclear Security Enterprise, providing manufacturing, technical, and scientific expertise.
Responsibilities
- Ensure support of commissioning and startup duties of installation configuration validation and Test planning and document development.
- Schedules and assists in planning of CSU execution activities including sequence and resource requirements for assigned projects.
- Prepares equipment test records and Pre-op testing binders.
- Participates in construction to CSU turnover walkdowns.
- Collaborates with the construction field engineer as required to support component/system turnover.
- Initiates and tracks Punchlist developed during testing.
- Performs and monitors testing of equipment to ensure conformance with requirements and compliance with test procedures.
- Ensures work is undertaken safely and activities are supported to meet schedule and cost.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Chemistry, Physics, or related).
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience as a CSU test engineer.
- In-depth knowledge of NFPA-70e.
- Commercial/Department of Energy experience with NQA-1 requirements supporting operational readiness reviews.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Successful drug screening.
- Eligible for DOE Q security clearance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific major.
- 2 years job-related experience and 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative.
Skills
- Previous experience of Y-12 procedure, programs, and processes.
- Previous commercial/Department of Energy experience, with NQA-1 requirements supporting operational readiness reviews.
