Commissioners Open Call

About the role

The Language Sub-Commission is seeking two commissioners to collaborate on initiatives that promote language learning and support within the IFSA community. The commissioners will focus on expanding the Language School program, which connects IFSA students for language exchange, and providing translation support for IFSA materials.

The official language of IFSA is English, with additional focus on the United Nations' official languages: Spanish, French, Chinese, Russian, and Arabic. Other languages may be considered based on mentor and mentee availability.

Responsibilities

• Find mentors and mentees for the Language School program.
• Monitor the progress of the Language School.
• Help produce learning materials for the Language School.
• Coordinate with the TreE-Learning HoSC to create and post materials on the TreE-Learning platform.
• Recruit native or proficient speakers of languages other than English to assist with translations.
• Determine translation needs for IFSA activities.

Requirements

• Must be a member of an IFSA Local Committee and either an active student or have graduated no longer than one year ago.
• Good internet connection, as all work is done remotely.
• Access to a computer or tablet.

Skills

• Good communication skills.
• Genuine interest in learning languages and leading projects that promote language diversity within IFSA.
• Strong organizational skills.

Estimated Workload

The average workload is 2-3 hours per week.
