More than 11,000 visitors per day pass over the I-20 Vicksburg Bridge into and out of Mississippi. The Mississippi Department of Transportation has commissioned Duvall Decker to replace the existing outdated visitor center with a modern expanded welcome center. The new center will be named the “Commissioner Dick Hall Hospitality Station”, dedicated to the late Commissioner Dick Hall who was the longest-serving Transportation Commissioner in the history of MDOT. The new 14,000-square-foot Hospitality Station aims to embody the spirit of “welcoming” and be a tranquil rest stop for weary travelers. Additionally, the facility will include exhibitions and information on the history of the Mississippi River, Vicksburg, and the State of Mississippi. Once inside, the Hospitality Station will offer a rare and prominent overlook of the Mississippi River and the Vicksburg bridges.
