About the role
The Maryland Judiciary seeks District Court Commissioners to review Applications for Statement of Charges and issue warrants or criminal summonses. They also handle pre-trial release, accept bail bond payments, and consider civil petitions for interim orders.
Responsibilities
- Determine probable cause for charges on police on-view arrests
- Determine pre-trial release for arrested persons
- Accept Bail Bond moneys and other forms of surety to secure release
- Serve as first point of contact for the public and those with court business
- Conduct criminal record checks as needed
- Work flexible shifts including day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday
- Be available 24/7 and essential personnel
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Reside in the county or a contiguous county where employed
- CPR certified and NCIC CN5 certification
- Flexible to work shift work and at various locations
Qualifications
- Bound by the Code of Ethics for Judicial Appointees
- Cannot be politically slanted, run for office, or endorse a candidate
- Must have demonstrated experience using a personal computer and typing efficiently
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
- Ability to make decisions based on criteria set forth in the Law and Administrative regulations

Midnight Shift: 10:00pm - 6:00am
