Commissary Production Prep Cook

Do you like to eat and make award-winning baked goods and sandwiches? Do you like working on a great team in a wonderful environment? Flour Bakery + Cafe is hiring for a full-time Production Prep Cook for our state-of-the-art commissary kitchen in the Seaport.

About the role

The Prep Cook reports directly to the Savory Production Chefs and receives direction from Production Shift Leads and other Commissary Managers. The primary focus is completing the daily production list while prioritizing items based on delivery timing to specific locations.

Responsibilities

• Support coworkers to ensure efficient prep work
• Follow all recipes and food-preparation techniques
• Monitor ingredient quality from vendors and perform quality checks
• Provide constructive feedback as needed
• Handle food and clean stations per standard sanitation procedures
• Assist with kitchen upkeep and deep-cleaning tasks when production list is complete
• Assist with checking in orders from BK
• Maintain an orderly and clean kitchen
• Check in with the Production Shift Leader or Production Chef at the start and end of each day
• Inventory finished product and write prep lists to meet finished-good pars
• Prioritize items based on delivery loops and communicate any timing issues
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Professional kitchen experience preferred
• Ability to maintain grooming and uniform standards
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift
• Ability to operate equipment such as dishwashers and cleaning tools
• Excellent sense of urgency and hospitality
• Ability to recognize when and where further cleaning is needed to meet standards
• Ability to take feedback and direction
• Excellent attendance, reliability, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Effective time-management skills
• Willingness to work in a team and assist other departments as needed

Work Environment

• Work in an environment with loud noises and machinery
• Work around various aromas and fluctuating temperatures
• Minimal gluten cross-contamination risk, though gluten may be present in the air

Pay

Starting wage: $16.50–$18.50 per hour (base $16.50 plus a shared percentage of sales known as BOH appreciation, averaging around $2 per hour). Total pay range: $16.50–$22.68 per hour.
