About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Transactional / Real Estate Paralegal to join an established, fast-paced legal and real estate team. This position offers an opportunity to work on a diverse range of commercial real estate transactions throughout the United States, while also playing an important role in the operations of a corporate-owned title company. The successful candidate will work on national commercial real estate matters involving acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing, development, and related transactions. Additionally, the position will support local real estate agents and other transaction participants by managing and handling real estate closings through our corporate-owned title company.

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring both transactional real estate paralegal experience and practical title and closing experience. Prior experience as a title agent, licensed title professional, escrow/closing professional, or in a comparable role is strongly preferred. This is not an entry-level position.

Responsibilities

National Commercial Real Estate Transactions

  • Assist with commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing, development, and other transactional matters throughout the United States.
  • Assist with transactions from initial contract and due diligence through closing and post-closing.
  • Review and organize purchase and sale agreements, leases, amendments, easements, loan documents, closing documents, entity documents, and other transaction materials.
  • Coordinate due diligence, including title, survey, environmental, zoning, lien and judgment searches, entity documentation, and other transaction requirements.
  • Review title commitments, exception documents, surveys, and related title materials and assist in identifying and resolving title issues.
  • Prepare and maintain transaction checklists and track contractual obligations, contingency periods, closing requirements, and other critical dates.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, internal business personnel, sellers, purchasers, brokers, lenders, title companies, surveyors, outside counsel, governmental offices, and other transaction participants.
  • Assist with closing preparation and execution and ensure that post-closing requirements are completed.

Title Company & Closing Responsibilities

  • Support local real estate agents and their clients by coordinating and managing real estate closings through our corporate-owned title company.
  • Manage assigned closing files from opening through closing and post-closing.
  • Order and review title searches and title commitments and assist with the identification and resolution of title requirements and exceptions.
  • Coordinate with buyers, sellers, real estate agents, lenders, attorneys, surveyors, and other closing participants.
  • Prepare and review settlement and closing documentation and coordinate execution of required documents.
  • Track funding, recording, title policy, and post-closing requirements.
  • Provide responsive and professional support to real estate agents and other parties throughout the closing process.
  • Help ensure that closing files are accurate, complete, organized, and handled in accordance with applicable title company procedures and requirements.

Requirements

  • Significant prior experience as a transactional and/or commercial real estate paralegal.
  • Experience handling commercial real estate transactions from contract through closing.
  • Title agent, title company, escrow, or substantial title review and closing experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience reviewing title commitments, title exceptions, surveys, closing documents, and related real estate documentation.
  • Experience working on transactions in multiple states is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions and closing files simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, anticipate next steps, and follow matters through completion without constant supervision.
  • Ability to work as an integral member of a team and effectively take direction from a senior paralegal.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated employment stability and a record of commitment and increasing responsibility in prior positions.
  • Ability and willingness to adjust working hours when transaction deadlines, closings, or workload require additional time.

The Person We Are Looking For

Technical knowledge and experience are important, but the right fit for our team is equally important. We are looking for someone who is confident and experienced enough to work independently, but collaborative enough to understand that successful transactions require a team. The successful candidate should be comfortable receiving an assignment and taking responsibility for moving it forward, identifying what needs to happen next, and following through without requiring constant supervision.

At the same time, independence does not mean working in isolation. This position works within an established team structure and reports to and receives direction from the senior paralegal. The right candidate will communicate effectively, accept direction and feedback professionally, respect established roles and responsibilities, keep the appropriate people informed, and understand when to act independently and when an issue should be elevated.

Because the position involves both sophisticated national commercial real estate transactions and direct interaction with local real estate agents and closing participants, the successful candidate must also be responsive, service-oriented, organized, and comfortable shifting between complex transactional work and the practical demands of getting a closing completed.

We value professionals who take ownership of their work, anticipate needs rather than simply react to them, help their teammates when necessary, remain composed when priorities change, and take pride in seeing transactions through from beginning to end. We are looking for someone interested in building a long-term career as part of an established real estate and legal team, rather than simply filling their next position.

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan with company matching contributions
