Responsibilities
- Lead roofing foremen and/or sub-contractors to perform work safely and productively per specifications and to the standards of the company and customer.
- Provide leadership to foremen—fostering safety, teamwork, and discipline—resulting in efficient and professional roof system installation.
- Manage all aspects of production to meet company and project goals.
- Supervise foremen to lead safe and efficient roof system installations.
- Oversee field staff and/or sub-contractor(s), assisting with crew leadership as required.
- Conduct or participate in safety audits and ensure subcontractor compliance with company expectations, including all safety requirements and weekly toolbox talks, inspection reports for equipment such as stair towers, forklifts, etc.
- Resolve complaints and grievances; assist with discipline when necessary.
- Ensure production and quality goals, maintaining records of efforts including photographs and reporting tools such as a periodic probing plan.
- Maintain understanding of contract information for jobs.
- Track labor hours and production against stated goals, including verifying subcontractor time recording.
- Schedule materials, equipment, and deliveries, paying special attention to using inventoried materials.
- Monitor material usage, minimize waste, anticipate shortages, and order materials as needed.
- Coordinate, supervise and manage subcontractors.
- Monitor quality of installations, including destructive testing such as cutting into hand welds to verify proper installation techniques and crew training needs.
- Identify personnel who may need more training and communicate this to the foreman as needed; bring in outside resources if necessary.
- Engage with customers to answer questions and provide explanations.
- Schedule daily or weekly contact with customers to review progress and discuss outstanding issues.
- Meet with customers to verify satisfaction with work and billing; deliver warranties.
- Review plans and sites, delegate crews and perform all pre-job planning including creating site-specific safety plans and work plan efficiencies.
- Ensure crews have information and instructions necessary to complete jobs; notify Operations team if information is missing or lacking.
- Submit reports and paperwork on time and coordinate communication between office and job sites, including thorough, timely Daily Project Reports.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, accidents, and thefts, and provide relevant documents, photos and assessments to the office.
- Deliver all documentation to the office in a timely manner, including daily reporting and expense reports.
- Review final paperwork to ensure change orders are reflected and billed.
- Participate in manufacturer final inspection and regular review meetings with project managers.
- Demonstrate commitment to professional development and willingness to be a team player.
- Offer assistance and expertise to others; assist Project Managers in preparation, review and administration of contractual proposals, contracts and purchase orders.
- Work closely with permit expeditors, project managers, design team and consultants to monitor and expedite the development process.
- Maintain relationships between the organization and outside consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain and update the project management/development tracking tool, Salesforce and other business tools as needed.
- Track and maintain Salesforce software for project information and updates in a timely manner.
- Receive, organize, and maintain all construction documents.
- Perform site take-offs and communicate information to Estimating in a timely, clear and accurate manner.
Skills/Qualifications
- Five (5) + years commercial roofing experience working directly for a commercial roofing contractor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with roof installation of large retail facilities.
- Experience managing roofing crews and roofing subcontractors.
- Experience of a wide range of commercial roofing systems and roofing manufacturers.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Bluebeam and/or construction project management experience, highly preferred.
- Ability to read and understand specifications and blueprints.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Willingness to be trained and use company software.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
