Commercial Roofing Carpenter

About the role
The Roofing Carpenter performs general roofing maintenance including minor repairs, lightning protection inspections, and associated minor repairs. Work involves planning and laying out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions using a variety of carpenter’s hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments. The role requires rounded training and experience from an apprenticeship program or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair work on various types of roofing systems (metal, pitched, tar material).
- Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance to roofing and lightning protection systems.
- Assist maintenance carpentry team as needed.
- Plan, organize work, and meet all deadlines.
- Coordinate with other trade and warehouse personnel to identify proper materials and parts.
- Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
- Inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.
- Perform on-call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
- Assist with periodic stock inventories and prepare material requisitions.
- Safely operate customer and company motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Perform various lower-classified duties such as file maintenance, workspace cleanup, and warehouse maintenance.
- Assist and support other trade groups and/or department staff in daily operations.
- Adhere to established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent GED.
- Five (5) years of commercial roofing experience completing similar work.
- Familiarity with basic mathematical functions.
- Knowledge of required hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to perform assigned work tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
- Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
- Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Qualifications
- Possess required security clearance (preferred).
- Knowledge of lightning protection systems (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
Pay
$36.40 / hour
