About the role

As a Commercial Banker, you will actively participate in a business development plan to grow your loan and deposit portfolio within a SouthState metro market. You will develop consultative relationships with prospects and clients, delivering tailored banking solutions while managing loan and deposit requests through appropriate channels to meet client needs and bank objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a business development plan to increase loan and deposit portfolios.
  • Build consultative relationships with prospects and clients to deliver appropriate banking solutions.
  • Manage loan and deposit requests, ensuring credit quality, responsiveness, structure, and pricing align with client needs and bank objectives.
  • Collaborate with Treasury Management Sales Officers, Capital Markets, Wealth, and Retail teams.
  • Underwrite loan requests within the bank’s policies and procedures, ensuring accurate and complete loan packages for credit approval.
  • Manage and service an assigned loan portfolio.
  • Ensure all required loan and deposit documentation is complete and compliant.
  • Clear documentation or compliance deficiencies identified by Loan and Deposit Operations or other reviews.
  • Partner with Credit to properly risk-grade loans and adjust grades as circumstances change.
  • Price loan and deposit products according to current bank pricing guidelines.
  • Document justifications for departures from approved pricing regulations, including credit quality, competitive factors, or relationship circumstances.
  • Demonstrate commitment to fair lending practices and remain knowledgeable of all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies, state, and federal regulations.
  • Resolve client problems and assist with general inquiries.
  • Provide superior service to existing clients.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Centers of Influence (COIs) and the community to enhance the bank’s reputation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, banking, or a related field (required). Graduation from a recognized school of banking is an asset.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of commercial lending experience, including loan structuring and credit analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of bank products, services, procedures, and practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state lending regulations and bank policies.
  • Familiarity with the local business community (strongly preferred).
  • Completion of required annual compliance training and new employee orientation.

Skills

  • Well-developed sales, interpersonal, and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic accounting and credit skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize complex work assignments.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to evaluate creditworthiness.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficient use of basic office equipment, including calculators and computers.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports.
  • Large amount of time spent in front of a computer (sitting or standing with an adjustable desk).

Work Environment

  • Private office setting.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Pay

In accordance with Colorado law, the anticipated pay range for this position is $133,533.00 - $213,307.00. Actual offers will be determined based on applicant’s skills, experience, and education.
