About the role

The SouthState Corporation is seeking a dynamic Commercial Lending Officer to join our team in a metropolitan market. Reporting to the Credit Manager, this role involves developing and managing a high-level loan and deposit portfolio, analyzing financial information, and selling additional products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages a loan and deposit portfolio of commercial clients within a SouthState metro market
  • Manages the flow of loan and deposit requests through appropriate channels to ensure credit quality, responsiveness, structure, and pricing meet client and bank objectives
  • Collaborates with Treasury Management Sales Officers, Capital Markets, and Wealth and Retail teams to deliver appropriate banking solutions
  • Underwrites loan requests within Bank policies and ensures loan packages are accurate and complete for submission to Credit partners for approval
  • Serves and manages the assigned loan portfolio, ensuring all required documentation is in file
  • Resolves client problems and assists with general inquiries, providing superior service to existing clients
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with Community Organizations and others to enhance the Bank's image and reputation

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-10 years commercial lending experience, including loan structuring and credit analysis responsibilities
  • Extensive knowledge of Bank products, services, procedures, and practices, as well as Federal and State lending regulations and Bank policies
  • In-depth knowledge of local business community is preferred
  • Well-developed sales, interpersonal, and negotiating skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; basic accounting and credit skills; detail-oriented; proven analytical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

Qualifications, Education, And Certification

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, banking, or related field is required; a recognized school of banking is an asset

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Requires a large amount of time in front of a computer, which can be done sitting or standing with use of the right desk
  • Located in a private office within a cooled and heated facility with access to a break room or rest room during breaks

Travel

  • May require some travel from time to time
