About the Role

The Commercial Relationship Manager serves as an intermediate-level commercial banking position, focusing on business development and portfolio management. This role aims to drive shareholder value through strategic business development, maintaining high-quality credit standards, and fostering strong client relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Achieves individual annual production and growth goals for loans, deposits, and fees to meet bank targets and maintain credit terms.
  • Initiates and develops new business through targeted business development activities.
  • Maintains ongoing contact with new clients to enhance their experience with First Interstate Bank.
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of client needs through thorough analysis of financial data and personal meetings.
  • Generates leads and tracks activities using internal customer sourcing software, making referrals to relevant business partners and bankers.
  • Participates in community organizations to identify and develop business development opportunities, demonstrating our commitment to the communities we serve.
  • Buys into the client and prospect referral pipeline by identifying and developing internal and external centers of influence.
  • Promotes bank products and services, keeping clients informed of available solutions.
  • Assembles cross-functional teams to address customer requests and identifies cross-sell opportunities.
  • Analyzes credit to assess clients' ability to meet borrowing requirements.
  • Maintains compliance with all bank regulations and follows internal policies and procedures.
  • Engages in and embodies the First Interstate Bank Mission, Vision, and Values, executing the Service Commitments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field required.
  • 4-6 years of experience in commercial lending, commercial credit underwriting, or a related field.
  • Advanced credit analysis and commercial underwriting skills, including accounting, financial statement analysis, and cash flow analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, practices, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the bank's risk-rating system, credit products, and underwriting policies.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation abilities.
  • Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills, working with individuals and teams across the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; PowerPoint experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, remain adaptable under pressure, and apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to inquiries and complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to work with abstract and concrete variables.
