About the role

Suncoast Post Tension, Ltd., an established post tension and rebar manufacturing company with over 30 years in business, supplies construction-related materials from nine US facilities. We are seeking an experienced Commercial Rebar Sales Manager to drive growth and estimating strategy for our rebar and concrete reinforcement product lines in the Austin market. In this role, you will secure profitable rebar contracts by engaging with concrete contractors, general contractors, and developers, focusing on commercial high-rise, multi-family, and industrial sectors. You will navigate the full commercial lifecycle of rebar projects, lead a regional estimating team, and align sales pipelines with local fabrication capacities to ensure flawless execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the regional commercial sales strategy for fabricated rebar, concrete reinforcement, and integrated post-tensioning packages.
  • Identify, target, and secure competitive bids for commercial high-rise, multi-family slab-on-grade, and heavy structural concrete projects.
  • Manage the end-to-end rebar estimating process, including structural take-offs, tonnage calculations, and scrap optimization strategies.
  • Negotiate supply, fabrication, and detailing contracts directly with concrete subcontractors and general contractors.
  • Align regional sales pipelines with Suncoast’s local plant fabrication capacities to maintain optimal production backlogs and avoid operational bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with Keller geotechnical and foundation teams to cross-sell structural reinforcement solutions on comprehensive, ground-up projects.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate pre-construction budgets, final lump-sum bids, and unit-price estimates for complex rebar packages.
  • Track steel commodity indices and domestic/import rebar mill pricing to forecast material costs and protect project margins against market volatility.
  • Conduct structural drawing reviews and coordinate with in-house detailing teams to resolve constructability issues prior to contract execution.
  • Maintain strict adherence to Keller’s commercial risk management protocols during contract redlining, scope definition, and execution phases.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with structural engineers, architects, and field superintendents to establish Suncoast as a preferred, early-stage reinforcement partner.
  • Drive Keller’s "Zero Harm" safety culture by ensuring all commercial bids properly account for safe job site offloading, bundling, and handling protocols.
  • Mentor, train, and develop a regional team of rebar estimators and junior commercial sales representatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent highly relevant field experience in structural reinforcement.
  • Minimum of 7 years of direct commercial sales or estimating experience in the concrete reinforcement, rebar fabrication, or post-tensioning industry.
  • Proven track record of consistently securing high-tonnage rebar contracts in the commercial construction sector.
  • Deep technical understanding of ACI (American Concrete Institute) and CRSI (Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute) detailing and fabrication standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in rebar estimating software (RebarCAD & AutoCAD).
  • Ability to expertly read, interpret, and perform accurate take-offs from complex structural and architectural blueprints.
  • Strong financial acumen with proven experience managing raw material cost fluctuations, mill pricing strategies, and freight logistics.
  • Extensive experience negotiating construction contracts, managing scope exclusions, and mitigating commercial risk.
  • Demonstrated alignment with Keller operational standards, specifically regarding strict safety protocols and quality assurance processes.
  • Established, active relationships with top-tier concrete contractors, general contractors, and structural engineers within the target market.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to local fabrication plants, client offices, and active job sites up to 40% of the time.

Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous personnel management experience (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to recognize and provide solutions to customer-related construction issues in the field using accepted industry-based products.
  • Sound knowledge of basic mathematical principles.
  • Experience with lump-sum job reconciliations and dispute resolution.
  • Ability to manage workload with changing priorities while achieving project deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.
  • Frequently required to sit or stand for long periods of time and walk distances, as well as stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, reach, or feel and manipulate objects or controls.
  • Must be able to work in fumes and odors (non-hazardous).
  • Must be able to work in loud areas and wear hearing protection.
  • Must be able to work with oils, grease, and dust, with limited personal protection (aprons, gloves, etc.).
