Commercial Real Estate Senior Associate/Counsel
About the role
The firm’s Real Estate practice is dynamic and growing, advising companies, developers, franchisees, investors, and other commercial entities in sophisticated real estate transactions. This role is best suited for an experienced real estate attorney with substantial commercial leasing experience who is looking to take on meaningful responsibility within a collaborative, business-focused practice.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate sophisticated commercial leases on behalf of landlords and tenants
- Advising clients on franchise and distribution-related real estate matters
- Handling acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, and commercial property financing transactions
- Representing franchisees in reviewing and negotiating franchise agreements, renewals, and transfers
- Supporting asset acquisitions and related corporate real estate matters
- Working directly with clients to provide strategic, business-oriented counsel
- Managing transactions efficiently while coordinating with internal teams and outside parties
Requirements
Significant experience drafting and negotiating commercial leases (required)
Broad experience in acquisition, disposition, development, and financing of commercial properties
Experience representing franchisees and handling franchise agreements, renewals, and transfers strongly preferred
Familiarity with asset acquisitions and general corporate real estate matters
Qualifications
5–10 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions at a law firm
Strong academic credentials
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated and able to manage matters with minimal supervision
Licensed and in good standing (or eligible to waive in) in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New York

Position Details
- Type of Role: Permanent

- Locations: Hartford, Stamford, or New Haven, CT; New York, NY; or Boston, MA
- Compensation: The target base salary range for this role in New York is $185,000 – $220,000, dependent on experience and other relevant factors. Compensation in other office locations will be commensurate with experience and local market conditions.
