Commercial PM Interior Fit Out Restaurant Builds
This Project Manager role focuses on leading commercial interior fit-out and renovation projects from concept through completion. You oversee large-scale builds for a general contractor specializing in interior construction, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage commercial interior fit-out and renovation projects, including large builds, from planning through final delivery.
- Review and interpret construction plans and drawings, ensuring all project team members understand scope, phasing, and design intent.
- Develop, maintain, and adjust detailed project schedules, sequencing interior work such as framing, drywall, ceilings, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
- Coordinate construction activities when materials or finishes (such as ceiling tiles) are delayed, maintaining progress by re-phasing work and adjusting plans as needed.
- Oversee interior framing, drywall installation, and other core interior construction activities to meet quality and safety standards.
- Manage subcontractors and third-party vendors, including selection, coordination, and performance oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
- Negotiate pricing with subcontractors and vendors, and support or perform estimating activities to ensure accurate budgets and competitive bids.
- Prepare, review, and manage change orders, ensuring scope changes are documented, priced, approved, and communicated to all stakeholders.
- Coordinate closely with clients and on-site customer teams to minimize disruption and maintain a professional presence in occupied commercial spaces.
- Use construction management software (including Procore) and related tools to track project progress, documentation, and communication.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and mechanical disciplines to align construction execution with technical requirements and design specifications.
- Monitor project timelines, costs, and quality, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Provide guidance and informal mentorship to project coordination staff and field teams, supporting their professional growth and development.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and company standards across all phases of construction.
- Participate in regular project meetings with stakeholders, providing clear updates on schedule, budget, and construction progress.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in commercial construction, with a focus on interior fit-outs and renovations.
- Proven background working for or with general contractors on large commercial interior builds.
- Hands-on experience with interior framing and drywall work, and a strong understanding of interior construction methods.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical drawings accurately.
- Demonstrated experience setting up and managing detailed construction schedules for complex interior projects.
- Strong knowledge of lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems as they relate to interior construction and phasing.
- Experience managing subcontractors, including coordination of work, performance oversight, and issue resolution.
- Skill in negotiating pricing with subcontractors and vendors to meet budget and quality objectives.
- Experience with estimating construction work, including reviewing quantities, scopes, and cost breakdowns.
- Proficiency in preparing and managing change orders and understanding their impact on schedule and budget.
- Experience coordinating with third-party vendors and stakeholders in active commercial environments.
- Familiarity with construction management platforms such as Procore.
- Solid construction management and project coordination skills, including communication, organization, and problem-solving.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to timely project delivery in commercial interior settings.
Qualifications
- Broad construction background that includes exposure to design, engineering, and mechanical aspects of projects.
- Experience with commercial fit-outs for retail, hospitality, food service, or similar customer-facing environments.
- Ability to plan and phase interior work in occupied spaces to minimize disruption to operations.
- Comfort working closely with client representatives and brand teams on-site.
- Interest in stepping into or growing within a mentorship role, helping develop junior project staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for documentation, reporting, and stakeholder updates.
- Adaptability and resourcefulness in managing material delays, scope changes, and evolving project requirements.
Work Environment
This role is primarily on-site at active commercial customer locations, such as major retail, hospitality, and service brands, where you manage interior construction activities in operational environments. You work closely with client teams and subcontractors in the field, coordinating daily tasks and phasing work to minimize disruption to customers. The position involves regular use of construction management technology, including platforms like Procore, as well as standard construction tools and documentation. Work hours follow typical construction schedules and may require flexibility to accommodate project timelines, site access, and client needs. Pay
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $115.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Delran, NJ. This is a fully onsite role, and work hours follow typical construction schedules, which may require flexibility to accommodate project timelines, site access, and client needs.
