About the role

As a Level 3 Pipefitter, you will oversee the installation and maintenance of complex piping systems on large-scale projects. This role involves advanced pipefitting tasks, including complex welding, system troubleshooting, and pressure testing. You will coordinate with project managers and foremen to ensure timely completion of work and compliance with safety standards. In and out of state travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems according to project specifications and drawings.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and weld pipes, as well as install valves, fittings, and hangers to complete systems.
  • Install piping systems for water, gas, and heating applications, ensuring they are level, plumb, and properly aligned.
  • Inspect work areas to ensure proper assembly, alignment, and positioning of pipes, fittings, and components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and install piping systems according to project requirements.
  • Ensure all piping installations adhere to project design specifications, codes, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to ensure proper integration of piping systems with other construction activities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and company policies, using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and following OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Conduct safety checks and report potential hazards to supervisors or safety managers.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks on piping systems, identifying and addressing issues or leaks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to pipe systems, including blockages, leaks, and other issues.
  • Perform pressure tests to ensure the integrity of piping systems and identify necessary fixes.
  • Collaborate with electricians, HVAC technicians, and general laborers to ensure efficient and timely installations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers regarding job progress, challenges, and scope changes.
  • Report work progress, issues, and necessary adjustments to foremen or superintendents.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and machinery required for pipefitting tasks.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, storing tools and materials safely.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a pipefitting apprenticeship program preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in pipefitting or a related trade, preferably in mechanical contracting or commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of pipefitting techniques, including welding, threading, and pipe assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in using pipefitting tools and equipment, including welding machines, cutting tools, and pressure testing devices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot pipe system issues.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure work meets project specifications.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to complete Form I-9 upon hire (employment subject to E-Verify confirmation).
  • Must be able to travel to multiple construction sites within the U.S. and present acceptable identification for security or travel purposes.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to meet job-site access requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal plumbing and mechanical codes and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification or licensure as a pipefitter or plumber.
  • Experience with welding, including TIG, MIG, and stick welding techniques.
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Regularly required to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in outdoor conditions and elevated environments.
  • Use of hands to handle tools, reach, and operate equipment.
  • Ability to hear, speak, and communicate clearly on active jobsites.
