About the Role

Clovis Community College seeks an equity-minded Commercial Music Instructor to join its part-time faculty pool. The successful candidate will teach a part-time schedule of Commercial Music courses, utilizing diverse pedagogies and instructional technologies for face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats. The role emphasizes student success, collaboration, and culturally responsive teaching in a diverse academic environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned Commercial Music courses in various instructional settings and schedules.
• Integrate a variety of pedagogies and instructional technologies for face-to-face, online, and hybrid delivery.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Adhere to institutionally approved curriculum and course outlines of record.
• Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, and oral responses.
• Provide course syllabi to students and maintain classroom records per District Policy.
• Submit student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
• Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, with a commitment to equity-minded practices.
• Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of directly related professional experience; or
  • Associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience; or
  • A valid California Community College Credential; or
  • Equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency petition).

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into instructional and relational practices.
• Recent experience working with racially minoritized students (e.g., African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American) and an understanding of historical exclusion patterns in higher education.
• Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices to better support racially minoritized students.
• Related work and professional experience in commercial music.
• Experience working with students of diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities and traditionally underrepresented populations (e.g., students of color, foster youth).
• Ability to facilitate multicultural and cross-cultural communication with sensitivity.
• Experience supporting under-prepared and high-need students at the community college level.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student success.
• Proficiency with instructional technologies and computers.
• Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
• Familiarity with the community college mission and goals.

Pay

• Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
• Salary classification placements are based on education and experience as outlined in the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
• Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
