About the Role

This position is responsible for preparing loan closing documents for commercial purpose loans, including transactions secured by real estate, title vehicles, and UCCs, and delivering those loan documentation packages to the lender or attorney.

Responsibilities

  • Engage attorneys for real estate closings and title work.
  • Analyze title work for outstanding liens and tax exceptions that affect the collateral.
  • Review and analyze entity documentation to verify proper authorizations by officers of the entity.
  • Pull and review flood determinations to ensure all Flood Compliance regulations have been adhered to.
  • Ensure insurance (hazard/liability/flood) is in place prior to closing.
  • Verify that loans have been approved within lending authority limits.
  • Prepare commercial loan modifications and/or renewals.
  • Fund commercial loan transactions, including preparing general ledger tickets, internal payoffs, or wire forms.
  • Ensure proper lien perfection on security instruments, including Deeds of Trust, Mortgages, UCCs, and certain titled collateral on commercial loan transactions.
  • Work loan documentation ticklers (exceptions/deficiencies) associated with documents prepared by the Commercial Loan Support area.
  • Work department reports (e.g., UCC Continuation Report).
  • Act as a resource center for Loan Officer Assistants for documentation questions or pre-closing review of loan packages.
  • Ensure loan closing packages adhere to the bank’s credit policy, compliance regulations, and all other applicable laws related to commercial loan documentation.
  • Adhere to department policy and procedures.
  • Provide and deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Assist the Commercial Loan Support Manager with day-to-day workflow and special projects, including training new lending personnel and testing/implementing new releases to the loan documentation system.
  • Partner with Business Development Officers and Credit Administration to help achieve the business goals of the bank.

Qualifications

Education & Knowledge

  • Required: Associate’s Degree from a two-year college in a business-related field or equivalent combination of related work experience in banking.
  • Thorough understanding of the commercial loan process from loan application to closing/booking of the loan.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial loan documentation, commercial compliance regulations, applicable lending regulations, and commercial lending terminology.
  • Preferred: A Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in business from a four-year college or university.

Experience

  • Required: A minimum of three years’ work experience in commercial loan documentation, commercial loan documentation review, or commercial lending.
  • Preferred: Experience with Laser Pro Documentation System, Fiserv Signature Core Platform System, and Nautilus Imaging System.

Skills

  • Ability to review and analyze title opinions, title insurance commitments, flood determinations, and commercial closing documents, including notes, security documents, and loan agreements.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills to effectively deal with both internal and external customers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient personal computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to effectively answer questions from all lending personnel staff.
