General Summary of Responsibilities

In accordance with established lending policies and procedures, receives and reviews applications for credit. Meets with applicants to explain credit policies and to obtain additional loan documentation. Responsible for developing new business, underwriting, structuring and the closing of loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio. Represents the bank in local community through active participation in community affairs and participates in marketing all of the bank’s products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represents the bank to the customer in a courteous, professional manner and provides prompt, friendly, accurate service in person and over the phone.

  • Receives and reviews applications for credit.

  • Mets with loan applicants to explain credit policies, loan options, rates, terms and collateral requirements.

  • Orders credit reports, analyzes data, approves or denies credit requests, collects delinquent loans.

  • Gathers required information to provide a complete application to the appropriate loan processor.

  • Conducts loan closings. Ensures all documents are appropriately signed and all underwriting conditions are met. When necessary, takes all steps necessary to perfect the bank’s lien position.

  • Approves loan requests that meet established lending criteria and are within approved lending limits. Presents loan requests above lending limits to Chief Credit Officer and/or appropriate groups.

  • Disburses funds in accordance with bank guidelines.

  • Manages and supervises individual loan portfolios. Responsible for producing a high volume of good quality loans. Develops and maintains existing customer base and builds customer satisfaction and confidence in the bank.

  • Maintains the asset quality of the lending portfolio. Collects financial information on a continual basis as required by the bank’s loan policy. Reviews delinquency reports, performs routine follow-up with past due customers and coordinates collection efforts with other loan officers. When necessary, liquidates and works with bank’s attorney when court action is required.

  • Cross-sells other bank services in a professional manner.

  • Represents the bank in the local community through active participation in community affairs.

  • Completes required training associated with job function. Continues education through various means to remain current with areas related to position.

  • Complies with all bank policies and procedures.

  • Complies with Bank Secrecy Act regulations relating to Customer ID Program, Anti-Money Laundering and the Office of Foreign Asset Control.

  • Knowledge of various federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act, Community Reinvestment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Regulation E and the roles and responsibilities relating to each act.

  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Good understanding and knowledge of bank’s products and services.

  • Good understanding of internal accounting system to monitor and reconcile loans.

  • Good cross-selling, management and organizational skills.

  • Adequate knowledge of both internal policies and procedures and the respective state and federal laws and regulations governing departmental functions to ensure performance of individual job duties.
