Where You Will Work
This is a remote role based in or near Southwest Washington or Portland, Oregon, with regular travel required for on-site events.
Pay
The target annual pay range for this position is $117,216 - $133,200. The full annual pay range is $106,560 - $159,840. We provide an additional $2.00 per hour bilingual differential for employees who can support our members' financial needs effectively in a second language, subject to verification of strong grasp of financial terms. Compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. In addition to salary, performance-based incentives are available.
About the Role
This position is responsible for developing, growing, and managing a portfolio of quality, member business loan relationships in support of the credit union’s strategic goals within the Washington and Oregon market areas.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and develops new member business loan opportunities through networking and community involvement within the credit union’s footprint.
- Develops profitable and positive networks within the business community.
- Establishes and maintains effective and professional business relationships with existing/prospective members and Centers of Influence (COIs).
- Builds a quality member business loan portfolio by negotiating terms and conditions within the credit union’s prescribed framework while adhering to all commercial lending policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintains knowledge of competitor rates, programs, terms, and conditions to strategically present the credit union's programs.
- Performs interviews and consultations with prospective business loan members, handling all aspects of the loan process, including:
- Collecting and reviewing loan applications and supporting financial documentation.
- Collaborating with the Credit Analyst to analyze loan requests.
- Reviewing loan documentation.
- Performing timely periodic annual term loan and risk reviews.
- Monitoring delinquencies and identifying potential credit concerns.
- Meets monthly loan production, profitability, sales activities, and outbound calling goals.
- Maintains strong credit quality of the credit union’s member business lending portfolio through ongoing portfolio management.
- Supports a strong relationship banking culture as a subject matter expert in product knowledge and promotion of Peak Credit Union's products and services.
- Attends and participates in all required meetings and work-related events.
- Maintains assigned equipment (e.g., cell phones, computers) in accordance with credit union procedures.
- Ensures work areas are secure and compliant with member privacy regulations and credit union requirements.
- Serves as a resource and develops positive relationships with internal partners and branch personnel.
- Complies with state and federal regulations, completing necessary documentation and disclosures.
- Acts as a mentor to commercial loan officers, assistant commercial loan officers, and other department members.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Regional Director of Commercial Lending.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Qualifications
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a high-volume, production-oriented, commercial lending role or equivalent position.
- Valid driver's license to perform job duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Risk Management Association (RMA) Lending Certifications.
Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of commercial lending guidelines, regulatory procedures, and laws.
- Experience with investor commercial real estate, commercial & industrial lending, and business deposit products.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
- Strong networking, relationship management, consultative selling, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to evaluate loan pricing, terms, risk grades, collateral liquidation value, repayment sources, and industry risks.
- Experience preparing written loan approval requests covering regulatory and credit union requirements.
- Ability to understand complex business loan requests and assess financial capacity of borrowers/guarantors.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to generate a high volume of new loan originations and manage a significantly sized loan portfolio.
- Strong knowledge of commercial credit analysis, including borrower financial statements, CRE investor real estate, and C&I lending concepts (construction lending knowledge preferred).
- Experience with financial services loan and documentation systems (e.g., LaserPro, LOS systems, spreading software) preferred.
- Direct experience in commercial lending and/or business development within the core market area preferred.
