About the Role

Perform daily tasks that include documentation preparation and closing functions on simple, straightforward to complex commercial loans. Primary functions involve all loan closing activities on assigned loans, including documentation preparation, engagement of attorneys for real estate-secured transactions, and the satisfactory processing and closing of loans.

Responsibilities

  • Input commercial loans with overall responsibility for document preparation using closing process software and other bank systems.
  • Adhere to TowneBank’s policies and procedures, Federal & State laws and regulations, and ensure perfection of TowneBank’s security interests on all loans.
  • Complete accurate loan documentation packages within departmental time frames.
  • Work with lenders, attorneys, internal departments, and outside agencies to determine the proper course of action for documenting, reviewing, and collateralizing loans.
  • Ensure timely processing of executed loan packages upon receipt from lenders and attorneys.
  • Receive and analyze vendor reports (e.g., flood certifications, UCC pre-searches) to ensure compliance with regulatory and TowneBank policies.
  • Review title commitments on real estate-secured loans to verify correctness and address exceptions of concern to the bank.
  • Prepare documentation for new loans, loan modifications, and renewals.
  • Use the lending documentation system accurately.
  • Fund loan closings and organize files for the Booking and Document Management/Review teams.
  • Partner with Doc Review, Relationship Specialists, and Lenders to correct loan documentation and exceptions.
  • Respond to questions from employees regarding loan documentation, procedures, and compliance.
  • Attend seminars to maintain knowledge of lending-related regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Adhere to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a commercial credit/loan operations environment related to specific job functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledgeable with document preparation software.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills to interact with internal and external members/vendors.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of situations.
  • Ability to adapt to constant change.
  • Basic understanding of the commercial loan process and products, including real estate and non-real estate-secured loans.
  • Understanding of commercial lending terminology and applicable documentation.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment and handle multiple assignments of varying complexities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to research and solve problems that arise.

Physical Requirements

  • Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
  • Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
  • Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
