Commercial Litigation Attorney

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Attorney to join our litigation team and handle complex business disputes from prelitigation through trial.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a docket of commercial litigation matters across state and federal courts, overseeing all phases from intake through resolution or trial.
  • Draft, review and file pleadings, motions, briefs, oppositions, and related court filings with precision and adherence to court rules.
  • Lead motion practice including drafting dispositive and nondispositive motions, replies and oral argument preparation.
  • Plan and execute discovery strategies: draft and respond to discovery requests, manage document collection, review and privilege logs, and supervise ediscovery workflows and vendors.
  • Prepare for, take and defend depositions, and develop witness preparation materials and trial outlines.
  • Develop and implement trial preparation plans: exhibit lists, witness examinations, jury instructions, and evidentiary strategy.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis and other research platforms to support briefs and motions.
  • Perform document review and analysis to identify key facts, preserved evidence, and litigation risk.
  • Lead settlement negotiations and assist in developing case valuation and settlement strategy in collaboration with clients.
  • Advise clients on case strategy, risk management, and practical legal options while maintaining strong client communication and timely updates.
  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys, paralegals and document review teams; manage deadlines and delegate tasks to ensure high-quality, cost-efficient representation.
  • Willingness to travel to court appearances and client meetings as required.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active admission to the state bar in which the attorney will practice (federal bar admission preferred or willingness to seek it).
  • Minimum 3-7 years of civil litigation experience with substantial experience in commercial/business disputes; trial experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven motion practice experience including drafting dispositive motions, motions in limine, and related briefing; experience presenting oral argument a plus.
  • Demonstrated trial preparation and courtroom experience, including witness preparation and evidence presentation.
  • Strong legal writing and brief drafting skills with a record of persuasive, well-organized filings.
  • Extensive experience with discovery processes, including ediscovery platforms, document review, privilege logs and meet-and-confers.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis) and document management/review systems.
  • Experience conducting and defending depositions and preparing deposition summaries.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience developing settlement strategies and alternatives to litigation.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple matters and deadlines, and work independently as well as cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and client counseling skills, with professional demeanor and ethical judgment.
