Responsibilities
- Direct the services of the department within the accepted principles and practices of the Hub Broker Standards.
- Supervise and direct department personnel (account managers and processors) including training, motivation, and performance appraisals.
- Work with Operations Leader and staff to develop performance management and career paths/succession planning.
- Work in conjunction with the Operations Leader in the hiring or dismissal of personnel within the commercial department.
- Monitor, balance, and coordinate workloads among department personnel to maintain a well-rounded efficient workforce by thoughtfully assigning accounts and work assignments.
- Promote account rounding and cross selling.
- Provide technical knowledge and expertise to department personnel regarding appropriate coverage.
- Support and mentor SBU Department as related to daily functions between middle market and small business.
- Oversee, with the assistance of our Quality Control department, the quality control review process to assure the production of quality work and the provision of excellent customer service.
- Work with producers to maintain synergy with Hub International corporate goals, our carrier requirements, and the needs of our clients.
- Act as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues that require policy interpretation and experience-based judgment to resolve. May also negotiate with underwriters and carriers.
- Pursue professional studies and maintain familiarity with trends in the industry and new insurance products.
- Improve/refine professional & supervisory skills through continuing education.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with company sales representatives, underwriting and claim representatives.
- Manage a commercial lines book of business with all of the duties and key responsibilities as per the Commercial Lines Account Manager job description.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years commercial lines insurance experience.
- Property and Casualty Insurance License preferred; or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Supervisory experience.
- Hands on manager who enjoys mentoring.
- Thorough knowledge of commercial lines coverages and markets.
- Experience with Epic.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, listening, communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
