Bluestem Outdoor Services is a commercial landscape company servicing the DFW and Houston areas. We are currently seeking an experienced Irrigation Technician to help service customers in the DFW area.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems to ensure proper and efficient function
• Repair and maintain valves
• Trace electrical components
• Install and initialize clocks and timers
• Locate existing zones and valves
• Inspect, repair, and maintain commercial irrigation systems including heads, valves, controllers, wiring, and mainlines
• Perform scheduled system audits, seasonal startups, and winterization services
• Diagnose and troubleshoot irrigation malfunctions using controllers, multi‑meters, and locating equipment
• Program and adjust smart irrigation controllers and rain/moisture sensors
• Document all service work, parts used, and system conditions accurately
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to clients and management
• Comply with local water district regulations and water use restrictions
• Maintain assigned service vehicle and tools in good working condition

Requirements & Qualifications

• 2+ years of commercial irrigation installation and/or service experience
• Texas Irrigator License or Irrigation Technician License preferred (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license
• Familiarity with major controller brands (Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, Weathermatic)
• Knowledge of irrigation system design principles and hydraulics
• Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to read site plans and irrigation schematics
• Physical requirements:
  • Dig and perform trenching work by hand and with mechanical equipment
  • Lift and carry up to 60 lbs regularly
  • Work in confined spaces, trenches, and valve boxes
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
