Commercial Insurance Inspector- (Staten Island, NY.)

About the role

EXL Risk Control is looking for self-directed independent contractors who possess excellent communication skills, computer proficiency, and a commitment to meeting client quality and timeliness standards. You will work from your own home or office, servicing onsite survey/inspection assignments in the Staten Island, NY area, and other locations within approximately 15 miles of Staten Island and the West Brooklyn area.

Responsibilities

• Schedule on-site surveys and provide risk control reports to insurance industry clients.
• Create reports containing information necessary to underwrite a commercial insurance policy, including recommendations to control and/or correct potential loss-producing conditions.
• Manage assignments you accept, successfully secure customer appointments within a local territory, and complete work assignments on time.
• Evaluate businesses to identify hazards and improve safety, mitigating risks for our insurance company clients.

The type of businesses surveyed include commercial operations such as retail, restaurants, hotels, apartments, construction jobsites, churches, and schools. Most surveys assess businesses for Property and General Liability coverage, but we also service other commercial insurance lines of business including Workers Compensation, Auto/Fleet, Products Liability, Inland Marine, and Builders Risk.

Requirements

• Preferred experience in commercial insurance, real estate, inspection, construction, claim, loss control, underwriting, and/or fire and safety (all interested candidates are encouraged to apply).
• In lieu of experience, a 15-hour online certification option is available to qualify you.
• Must provide the following tools/items:

  • Reliable vehicle
  • Measuring device such as a laser, 100 ft. tape, or measuring wheel
  • Auto and General Liability Insurance

Fees are negotiable depending on experience and the unique aspects of selected jobs.
