Commercial HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic
About the role
We’re hiring an experienced Commercial HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic who knows how to install commercial HVAC systems correctly, efficiently, and with pride in their work. The role involves reading drawings, laying out work, installing duct systems, coordinating with other trades, and completing installations without constant supervision.
Responsibilities
- Install commercial HVAC ductwork and related systems.
- Lay out ductwork from mechanical drawings and field conditions.
- Install rectangular, round, spiral, and specialty duct systems.
- Install VAV boxes, dampers, louvers, diffusers, grilles, and related HVAC components.
- Set and install rooftop units, air handlers, exhaust fans, and other mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate duct installation with piping, electrical, plumbing, sprinkler, and other trades.
- Identify field conflicts and communicate issues before they impact the project.
- Maintain high standards for workmanship and quality.
- Work efficiently and meet project labor and schedule expectations.
- Follow company and jobsite safety requirements.
Requirements
- Commercial HVAC sheet metal installation experience.
- Experience with new construction and tenant fit‑out work.
- Strong knowledge of all applications of commercial ductwork.
- Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to perform field layout and determine elevations and duct routing.
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment and systems, including VAV and VRF systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an installation team.
- Strong troubleshooting and field problem‑solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license.

- Must be a mechanic—not just a helper—capable of receiving drawings, understanding the work, laying it out, and performing professional commercial HVAC installations.
