Commercial HVAC Service Manager

About the Role
The Service Manager will lead field technicians and operations professionals to efficiently execute planned maintenance, repair, overhaul, and installation projects to exceed customer expectations and meet revenue and margin targets. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the commercial air conditioning business, including relationship management, talent development, field operations, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Service & Optimization guidelines and best practices are followed.
- Proactively identify actions, perform offline tasks assigned in DMBs, and escalate blockers to improve KPI performance and field operations.
- Join daily DMB meetings and discuss progress on relevant KPIs and actions to improve underperforming metrics.
- Ensure environmental, health, and safety compliance within the service team; provide training for a safe and productive work environment.
- Review work orders, invoices, and time reports for accuracy and efficient management of accounts receivable.
- Resolve warranty issues, product recall notices, operational problems, premature failures, and other product-related issues.
- Communicate regularly within the team to ensure proper scheduling and dispatching based on skill level, efficiency, and training requirements.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train technicians to meet workload demands and customer expectations.
- Meet with customers to ensure satisfaction, retention, and identify additional service opportunities.
- Supervise and direct field technicians to perform equipment repair, maintenance, start-up, and other duties for customer satisfaction.
- Forecast, monitor, and document financial performance against plan.
- Coordinate, prioritize, and resolve issues encountered by the team.
- Manage the team according to established programs and objectives.
- Collect customer feedback, establish and maintain strong customer relationships, and address key complaints.
- Conduct customer satisfaction investigations and implement improvement plans.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- 5+ years of experience in the Commercial HVAC industry.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing/leading a team of technicians (preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Engineering (preferred).
- Working knowledge and understanding of commercial HVAC systems.
- Technical aptitude with knowledge of local building codes and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in common office applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and business applications (SalesForce.com, ServiceMax, ERP).
Pay
The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 and $158,000.00. Factors affecting pay include skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications.
This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
