About the role
The HVAC Install Superintendent at Kelso Industries oversees all on-site installation activities, leading the field execution, managing crews, scheduling, and logistics to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and according to code.
Responsibilities
- Field Management & Supervision: Oversees multiple HVAC installation crews, assigns jobs, and ensures adherence to company standards, safety, and productivity goals.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinates with general contractors and project managers to schedule installations, inspections, and equipment start-ups.
- Logistics & Material Management: Ensures materials, tools, and equipment are ordered, delivered, and properly utilized on site, reducing waste.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Conducts site inspections to ensure installations comply with building codes, safety regulations (OSHA), and design specifications.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Assists field crews in resolving technical, design, or installation issues on-site.
- Communication & Reporting: Provides regular updates to project managers, reports on project progress, and manages customer service issues or change orders.
- Mentorship & Training: Trains, mentors, and evaluates installers to foster a skilled, high-performing team.
Requirements
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Commercial HVAC systems, blueprints, and building codes.
- Leadership: Experience leading teams.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve conflicts, technical issues, and scheduling challenges.
- Safety Focus: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including OSHA standards.
Qualifications
- Typically requires 5+ years of field service and installation experience.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, blueprints, and building codes.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Skills
- Field Management & Supervision: Directs and assists install crews, technicians, and subcontractors to ensure efficiency and quality workmanship.
- Operations & Scheduling: Plans daily, weekly, or long-term install schedules and coordinates logistics to meet customer deadlines and project milestones.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforces OSHA regulations, safety policies, and local mechanical codes on all job sites.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Offers expertise in diagnosing complex HVAC issues, providing technical support to field staff.
- Quality Control & Inspections: Conducts regular site visits and inspections to verify installations meet design specifications and company standards.
- Customer & Vendor Relations: Serves as the primary contact for clients or general contractors regarding repairs, maintenance, and project progress.
- Personnel Development: Trains, mentors, and evaluates service technicians to improve productivity and safety awareness.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintains records of projects, daily activities, materials used, and equipment performance.
