About the role
H and G Systems is a trusted leader in commercial mechanical services since 1968, serving hospitals, data centers, manufacturing facilities, office buildings, educational institutions, and other commercial and industrial environments. We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems and equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and system performance evaluations
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control system issues
- Perform equipment start-ups, commissioning support, and warranty service work
- Document equipment conditions, service findings, and repair recommendations
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment performance and repair options
- Complete digital service reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Manage daily service schedules and respond to service calls efficiently
- Follow all safety procedures and industry best practices
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional service and communication
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial HVAC service experience preferred
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities
- Experience servicing rooftop units, split systems, package units, and commercial HVAC equipment
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and system layouts
- Experience performing preventative maintenance and equipment performance analysis
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls effectively
- Comfortable working on rooftops, in mechanical rooms, and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds
- Experience operating scissor lifts and aerial lifts safely
- Basic proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and digital reporting platforms
Requirements
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record
- Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Commitment to safety, professionalism, and quality workmanship
Preferred Qualifications
- HVAC technical school or formal trade program completion
- EPA Certification
- Experience with commercial controls and building automation systems
- Experience servicing larger commercial and industrial HVAC equipment
