Job Purpose
The Precious Metals Operations Manager will oversee all operational activities supporting the precious metals management business unit. This role ensures accurate execution, trade support, settlement, reconciliation, custody, and reporting of physical and financial precious metals transactions while maintaining strong controls, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
Serves as a key liaison between Trading, Finance, Compliance, Logistics, Internal and external customers to ensure seamless daily operations, supports digital transformation initiatives, and supports the continued growth of the business.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversees daily precious metals trading operations, ensuring timely and accurate execution, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation of all transactions.
- Reviews and verifies trade confirmations, settlement instructions, and metal transfers.
- Maintains physical precious metals inventory across vault locations and custodial relationships.
- Coordinates physical metal movements, shipments, receipts, and transfers in conjunction with logistics team.
- Manages daily cash and wire transfer activities associated with trading and settlement operations in conjunction with the controlling team.
- Ensures compliance with AML/KYC requirements, sanctions screening, customs regulations, and internal policies.
- Collaborates with Compliance and Legal teams regarding customer onboarding, transaction monitoring, contractual agreements, and regulatory matters.
- Delivers expert work in General Commercial with high quality and timeliness, applying best practices and standards.
- Owens complex tasks in Sales Strategy, market analysis, producing accurate outputs and identifying risks or anomalies proactively.
- Analyzes problems, recommends options, and implements improvements in methods, tools, or data flows.
- Collaborates with adjacent teams and stakeholders, communicating insights and recommendations clearly.
- Mentors less experienced colleagues, reviewing deliverables and elevating team standards.
- Cross-functional adoption of discipline-specific enhancements ensuring consistent application and measurable performance gains.
Who we are looking for
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in precious metals, commodities trading, bullion operations, treasury operations, or related financial services. 3+ years of leadership or management experience. Strong knowledge of trade settlements, inventory controls, reconciliations, and operational risk management. Experience managing physical precious metals inventory, vault relationships, or commodity logistics. Advanced Microsoft Excel and analytical skills. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced trading environment.
- PREFERRED: MBA, CPA, CFA, or other relevant professional designation. Experience with SAP or other ERP platforms. Knowledge of SWIFT payments and treasury operations. Familiarity with precious metals custody, vault operations, and international logistics. Experience supporting business growth, operational transformation, and technology initiatives.
