WLH Consulting and Learning Solutions specializes in organizational change, strategic execution, commercial excellence, leadership development, and human capital optimization within the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry. We partner closely with clients—immersing ourselves in their culture, priorities, and challenges—to design solutions that elevate commercial performance and drive sustainable transformation. Through our life sciences brands, Tegra Analytics and WLH Consulting & Learning Solutions, we extend these capabilities to pharmaceutical and biotech organizations—combining data, consulting, and learning to advance commercial excellence. By connecting strategy, data, and execution, we help organizations translate data into clarity, strategy into action, and vision into measurable results.

About the role

The Commercial Excellence Senior Consultant is a hands-on consulting role responsible for leading the development and delivery of client-centric solutions that strengthen pharmaceutical commercial capabilities. This role blends strategic thinking with practical execution and requires demonstrated experience working with health systems, IDNs, payers, and the evolving healthcare ecosystem. The position serves as a workstream leader across WLH engagements with a strong focus on strategic account management excellence, customer-centric resource development, and commercial capability building. The successful candidate must be equally strong in designing and facilitating high-quality tools, frameworks, working sessions, and client solutions. This is a ready-now role requiring the ability to independently lead client-facing workstreams with minimal ramp-up. This role is remote, with the expectation of travel for client meetings and key engagements as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead WLH engagements focused on strategic account management, customer segmentation, stakeholder mapping, and value-based engagement strategies across health systems, IDNs, organized customers, and other complex environments.
  • Independently design and facilitate client working sessions, capability-building workshops, strategic discussions, and solution design discussions, using strong facilitation skills to guide senior stakeholders toward decisions, alignment, and action.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to WLH clients by demonstrating credibility, responsiveness, and a strong understanding of their commercial environment and strategic priorities within WLH's high-touch, bespoke consulting model.
  • Collaborate with WLH team members to collect, analyze, and synthesize customer and market data to inform solution design, account planning tools, and commercial recommendations.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality development, delivery, and implementation of project materials and sustainability resources that reinforce commercial excellence.
  • Translate complex healthcare trends into clear implications for commercial teams and account strategy with particular attention to health system priorities, IDN decision-making, market access considerations, and population health.
  • Serve as a lead day-to-day client contact for assigned workstreams, independently managing discussions, recommendations, and deliverables.
  • Build client confidence through a consultative, highly customized approach consistent with WLH's bespoke, partner-led model.
  • Design and develop high-quality, customized tools, frameworks, training materials, and resources that strengthen account management discipline, commercial execution, and customer engagement effectiveness.
  • Translate customer insights, data, and marketplace intelligence into actionable solutions that support behavior change, capability building, and measurable performance improvement.
  • Build resources that help clients articulate value, differentiate offerings, and align with customer priorities across health systems, IDNs, payers, and other emerging stakeholders.
  • Continuously refine and adapt materials based on client feedback, evolving market conditions, and emerging commercial challenges.
  • Design solutions grounded in real-world customer dynamics across health systems, IDNs, payers, organized customers, and emerging stakeholders.
  • Manage project workstreams and coordinate deliverables to ensure alignment across internal and client stakeholders.
  • Develop polished deliverables including PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, Excel-based tools, and other materials that meet WLH's standards for clarity, accuracy, and strategic impact.
  • Identify and track key metrics to quantify the effectiveness and business impact of commercial and account management interventions.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with WLH team members and clients, as reflected in feedback, project outcomes, and repeat engagements.
  • Operate independently and productively in a fast-paced consulting environment, requiring minimal supervision once oriented to WLH's methodologies and client context.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical commercial organizations, consulting, or related roles, with demonstrated senior-level client-facing responsibility. Market access field leadership experience is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with health systems and IDNs is required, including quality metrics, total cost of care, population health, care delivery models, and emerging customer types.
  • Strong working knowledge of pharmaceutical commercial operations and the interactions among commercial, market access, medical affairs, account management, and other cross-functional teams, with sufficient market access fluency to contribute credibly to client discussions and solution design.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize therapeutic areas and brand strategies within the context of customer needs, health system priorities, and account-level opportunities.
  • Demonstrated learning agility, innovative thinking, and the ability to conduct needs analyses and build tailored, customer-centric commercial solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify and communicate complex scientific, technical, or market concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Strong communication skills with a commitment to open, respectful, and professional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in virtual and in-person client engagement.
  • High comfort level with technology platforms and Microsoft 365 tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, MS Forms, etc.).
  • Demonstrates curiosity and learning agility in exploring emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve research, content development, and consulting deliverables.
  • Knowledge of change management principles and experience supporting organizational change and human capital development initiatives.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Pharmaceutical, agency, or commercial marketing experience preferred; experience supporting account management or commercial excellence initiatives strongly valued.
