Commercial ETO Engineer

About the role

Eaton’s Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is currently seeking a Commercial ETO Engineer to join the team. This role can be based at the Highland, IL or Syracuse, NY sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan and execute custom engineering projects; ensure deadlines are met to support customers with accurate results within financial guidelines.
• Lead projects from start to finish, engage team to achieve goals.
• Define and help acquire resources by coordinating team members and third‑party contractors or consultants.
• Work cross‑functionally with Marketing, Sales, Customer Service and Operations.
• Participate in technical sales presentations and trainings to customers; act as company representative on industry standards and codes technical committees.
• Essential Functions – Project Management: lead and participate in engineering projects and proposals from receipt of purchase order through timely completion of documentation; review designs, ensure compliance to standards, coordinate PE stamps; manage projects requiring PE stamps (manage third‑party structural engineers, interface with customers for questions and required data/drawings); create and maintain project tracking tools, set metrics and goals, ensure timely completion; remain knowledgeable of market trends, geographical conditions, competitive activity and apply knowledge in preparing data.
• Essential Functions – Engineering Design: perform engineering calculations and design application evaluations per industry codes and standards; provide customers with detailed assembly drawings, bill of materials, layouts; modify standard products for custom applications.
• Essential Functions – Customer Support: work directly with customers to develop solutions; collaborate cross‑functionally with domestic and international teams.
• Essential Functions – Process Improvement: implement lean principles to improve processes and eliminate waste; upgrade, develop and deploy tools supporting technical services, engineering process automation, design configuration, ease‑of‑doing‑business customer tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical preferred) or related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 2 years of modeling / design / applications engineering experience.
• Experience with 3D Modeling software (SolidWorks or AutoCAD).
• Only candidates within a 50‑mile radius of Highland, IL or Syracuse, NY will be considered (Active‑Duty Military Service members exempt).

Qualifications

• Preferred: 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred).
• Preferred: Experience in a customer‑facing environment.
• Preferred: CAD Experience (AutoCAD preferred).
• Preferred: Structural analysis (RISA 3D preferred).
• Preferred: Manufacturing experience with understanding of materials and processes.
• Preferred: SAP ERP experience.

Pay

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86,000 – $126,000 a year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, qualifications, market and business considerations.
