Commercial Estimator- Central Jersey
About the role
The Estimator will compute costs, prepare project estimates, resolve discrepancies, present completed estimates, and manage quantity takeoffs.
Responsibilities
- Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, equipment, and time requirements
- Prepare project estimates by reviewing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
- Resolve discrepancies through detailed cost analysis and information gathering
- Present completed estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
- Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and market trends
- Perform conceptual, schematic, design development, and hard bid estimates
- Review plans and specifications for consistency, accuracy, and completeness
- Manage all levels of quantity takeoffs while applying appropriate unit pricing
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals
- Identify value engineering opportunities and project cost savings
- Collaborate with project managers and preconstruction personnel to successfully pursue projects
Requirements
The successful applicant should have 5+ years of estimating experience, preferably with a Commercial General Contractor. A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred. OSHA certification is preferred. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost estimating principles is required. Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite is beneficial. Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills are necessary. Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously is essential.
