About the role
Vortex Doors is seeking Service Technicians to join our team. We are dedicated to providing top-tier service and a customer-first approach in commercial and industrial door repair.
Responsibilities
- Review daily work orders and stock trucks before starting the day.
- Visit job sites to replace broken springs and hinges, calibrate access control closers, and verify code compliance on new installations.
- Communicate with customers, document repairs, and ensure all work meets Vortex standards for safety and quality.
- Install and repair a variety of commercial doors using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Diagnose and complete routine repairs on components like springs, hinges, locks, and electrical parts.
- Set up and adjust hardware such as locks, handles, door closers, and access control systems.
- Confirm every installation and repair adheres to applicable safety and building codes.
- Engage with customers, explain findings and options, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Record service visits, work performed, parts used, and results; submit accurate reports as required.
- Troubleshoot issues quickly and thoroughly to ensure reliable operation.
- Perform final quality checks to align with company standards.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years of commercial door service experience (entry-level candidates welcome).
- Familiarity with door types, brands, and hardware.
- Confidence using hand and power tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and commitment to following them.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, lift and bend frequently, climb ladders up to 20 feet high, work on your knees for extended periods, and safely operate power tools.

Schedule
Full-time shifts between Vortex business hours of 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential overtime and on-call hours.
