About the role

The Journeyman Electrician performs commercial electrical service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and small-project installations across a variety of commercial facilities. This role requires a valid Journeyman Electrician License and strong technical skill in diagnosing and resolving electrical issues in active, occupied buildings.

Compensation

Compensation: $33.00 - $40.00 per hour pending experience and active state electrical license.

Duties / Expectations:

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with commercial building systems, including lighting controls, switchgear, and distribution equipment
  • Apply advanced knowledge of electrical theory and NEC code
  • Perform NEC calculations
  • Execute all types of conduit bends using various bender types
  • Install raceways, boxes, cables, panels, breakers, and transformers
  • Aid with wire pulling and switchboard installation
  • Install light fixtures, devices, and cover plates
  • Connect branch circuits including terminations and equipment
  • Perform basic testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
2+ years in a commercial service role
Expert-level troubleshooting skills in a commercial setting
Must have ability to run and lead small-size projects (1-4 electricians)
Possess an active state Journeyman electrical license
OSHA 10 certification
Ability to pass a criminal and motor vehicle background check

Requirements (Physical requirements will vary between job sites and peak periods)

  • Using many physical attributes such as sitting, standing, walking for extended periods of time
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Regularly working from elevated spaces for extended periods of time, including ladders, man lifts, scaffolding, or reach booms
  • Climbing a ladder with 30 pounds
  • Balancing on normal work surfaces
  • Comfortable in tight spaces (occasionally)
  • Reaching, handling, grasping, and pulling cables, wires, tools, and equipment
  • Focusing close up and far away (with or without correction)
  • Distinguishing color-coded wires
  • Using peripheral vision and exercising depth perception
  • Flexible, adaptable, and embracing change
  • Good troubleshooting ability
  • Embracing quality control processes
  • Good attention to detail
  • Following process and procedure
  • Speaking, hearing, and seeing for communicating with employees and outside resources, as well as managing risks of a construction environment
