About the Role

The Electrician reports to a Superintendent or designated lead to perform assigned functions in accordance with company policies and procedures, assisting in achieving the project’s goals and objectives. Work involves installation, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, equipment, and associated materials within the electrical construction industry.

Preferred Skills

  • In-depth commercial or industrial electrical construction experience

  • Demonstrated ability to install conduit, wire, and cable systems
  • Experience installing and terminating panels, switchboards, and other electrical equipment
  • Basic math skills
  • Dependable transportation and willingness to commute daily to remote job sites

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Ace Electric’s Safety Program
  • Install electrical work in accordance with Ace Electric Standards, project plans, and specifications
  • Coordinate installations with other construction trades
  • Perform mathematical operations quickly and accurately
  • Interpret construction drawings and visualize 3-dimensional structures
  • Coordinate materials, tools, and equipment for assigned tasks
  • Direct the work of Electrician Helpers and Apprentices
  • Accurately install conduit, wire, pre-fab assemblies, panel-boards, light fixtures, devices, and other equipment
  • Minimize waste of labor and materials through high-quality installations
  • Ensure concealed wiring is installed before completion of walls, ceilings, and flooring
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, ream, and install conduit using appropriate tools
  • Pull and terminate branch and feeder conductors
  • Terminate wiring to light fixtures, motors, panels, devices, and other electrical equipment
  • Test voltage, amperage, and continuity of circuit wiring using test equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty circuits, equipment, or systems
  • Complete all required documentation

Requirements

  • Valid state driver's license
  • OSHA 10 - Construction certification
  • Applicable federal, state, and local certifications as required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical experience preferred

Working Conditions

  • Work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, or snow)
  • Use construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns)
  • Carry required personal tools at all times (waist tool belt weighs approximately 30 lbs.)
  • Work from ladders and transport/relocate them unassisted
  • Personal weight with tools must not exceed ladder weight capacity
  • Work at heights up to 90 feet from ladders, scaffolds, aerial work platforms, catwalks, and other safe work areas
  • Work in restricted or confined areas such as switch gear-rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, and crawl spaces
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment
  • Regularly work 40 hours per week plus overtime as required; night shifts, weekends, and out-of-town work may be needed

Physical/Mental Functions

  • Identify colors of wire and other items accurately
  • Comprehend construction drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Bend conduit using hand benders
  • Safely use power tools and construction equipment (e.g., trencher, forklift, aerial work platforms)
  • Dig trenches using hand tools or power equipment
  • Comprehend and practice safe work procedures
  • Operate two-handed tools (e.g., cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools)
  • Operate company truck with manual and automatic transmission
  • Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions
  • Hear and see well (naturally or with correction)
  • Bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead
  • Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds; frequently lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds
  • Tolerate prolonged standing and movement on foot
  • Climb ladders (all types)
  • Perform repetitive arm, hand, and finger movements, including overhead work for full-day assignments
  • Access construction work areas, including levels accessible only by OSHA-approved ladders or stairs still under construction
  • Secure tools and materials from storage areas to complete tasks
