Responsibilities
- Define and clarify project scope and establish project team direction and goals.
- Determine the organizational structure of project teams and identify roles and responsibilities.
- Review initial job estimates and take ownership of construction estimates for budgeting projections.
- Prepare layout and construction drawings.
- Review plans and specifications to identify the types and grades of materials and equipment required for project compliance.
- Develop project budgets and cost codes.
- Auxiliary in technical proposals, project design, scopes of work, management plans, work sequencing, safety plans, quality control, and commissioning.
- Develop project goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and complete work efficiently.
- Review and process construction contracts with General Contractors.
- Determine subcontracting requirements and issue subcontracts as necessary.
- Plan, organize, and direct material procurement using established submittal processing and material management procedures.
- Cook up and manage effective communication with project teams and promote a productive work environment.
- Address employee relations matters as needed.
- Develop project schedules and assign project costs and manpower requirements.
- Prepare cash-flow and manpower forecasts.
- Develop and present detailed project scopes and proposals to clients and potential customers.
- Prepare, execute, and maintain complete project documentation, including plans, specifications, costs, schedules, and job folders.
- Conduct weekly onsite cost-to-complete surveys in coordination with lead field personnel.
- Maintain effective communication with project teams and promote a productive work environment.
- Coordinate, supervise, manage, and train project personnel to accomplish project goals.
- Monitor, document, and control projects using updated construction schedules and scheduling software.
- Determine project manpower requirements based on construction schedules.
- Schedule and conduct project startup, progress, and post-project meetings.
- Document and report project delays and accelerations for cost reimbursement purposes.
- Manage accurate project cost reporting using quantitative reporting, project surveying, and month-end job cost processing.
- Prepare monthly project billings, manpower requirements, and job cost analyses.
- Ensure compliance with established job safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage project closeout and turnover with General Contractors.
- Initiate and conduct internal project closeout activities.
- Maintain effective working relationships with vendors, owners, General Contractors, clients, and internal business partners.
- Stay current with industry trends and developments through technical publications, trade journals, and professional associations.
- Supervise employees in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Train employees and plan, assign, and direct project work.
- Evaluate employee performance and provide coaching and feedback.
- Address employee complaints and resolve project and personnel issues.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 9+ years of experience successfully managing commercial electrical projects valued at more than $10 million, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Intermediate knowledge of local and National Electrical Code requirements.
- Strong experience with Accubid, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with negotiations and various negotiation techniques.
- Experience reviewing and managing contract documents, including construction drawings, subcontracts, contract addenda, specifications, and change orders.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of applicable local and National Electrical Code requirements.
- Knowledge of mathematical operations and calculations required to determine labor, materials, project costs, and work-order estimates.
- Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English at a 12th-grade level.
- Valid driver's license in good standing required.
- Ability to report to project sites or offices as required.
- Ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends when requested.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Completion of a four-year indentured electrical apprenticeship program preferred.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician License preferred.
- 4+ years of experience as a Commercial Electrician preferred.
- Strong leadership, supervision, communication, negotiation, and team-development abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a constantly changing environment.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to manage confidential information.
