About the role
A Driver – CDL (A) is responsible for safely operating a heavy commercial truck, such as a tractor trailer, straight truck with a pup trailer, or other vehicle requiring a Class A CDL, to provide prompt and courteous delivery and removal of large containers.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order; report any safety issues on standard reports.
- Safely operate a heavy truck along designated routes and to disposal sites; read route sheets, follow maps, and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher/supervisor.
- Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor, and dispose of collected material at designated facilities.
- Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers, and others daily to ensure timely and professional service of all customer routes.
- Perform minor repairs to containers on-site or in the container yard.
- Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste and clean accidental spills while adhering to safety standards.
- Monitor the vehicle’s condition to ensure operational readiness, minimize downtime, and clean waste from containers and edges on each disposal trip.
- Complete required route/productivity sheets, vehicle condition reports (VCRs), and other reports as needed.
- Maintain adherence to productivity standards to ensure timely and efficient customer service.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures and actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Two years of prior experience driving commercial trucks preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude to perform minor repairs to containers.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.

Pay
$30.20/hr USD
This is a DOT and union position.
