About the role
The Commercial Credit Underwriter II role involves analyzing, underwriting, and making final credit decisions on commercial loan applications. This position adheres to sound lending practices, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes and underwrites commercial loan applications, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Performs basic financial analysis on less complex loans and industries, and interacts with borrowers' accountants to understand their accounting practices.
- Investigates guarantor's financial positions, conducts thorough investigations of personal financial statements, and assesses contingent liabilities.
- Conducts credit investigations, analyzes financial information, and communicates with shared services functions to expedite loan closings.
- Maintains a satisfactory level of portfolio delinquencies and charge-offs, ensuring departmental compliance with TD Bank Credit Policy, Federal Banking Regulation, and Government Reporting requirements.
- Makes final credit decisions within individual lending authority limits, considering strengths, risks, collateral analysis, historical financials, and business/cash flow analysis.
- Identifies credit applications requiring enhancements and makes decisions accordingly, considering alternative structures and overall assessments with market/sales personnel and customers.
- Meets turnaround requirements for high-volume loan production environments, maintaining strong quality of work produced.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- A bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 4+ years of relevant commercial lending experience.
- Prior lending authority preferred.
- Proven analytical and research skills.
- Strong understanding of credit underwriting and industry practices.
- Previous experience with business and personal financial statement analysis.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and good business judgment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven organizational, multi-tasking, analytical, time management, and decision-making skills.
- Developed PC skills including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Physical requirements: Performing sedentary work, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs., and responding quickly to sounds.
