About the role

The Construction Superintendent coordinates all site construction activities and supervises field personnel to complete projects on schedule and within budget. This role maintains the highest quality, ensures safety practices, and oversees trade personnel while administering job site operations. Reports to the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and supervises all construction activities.
  • Directs field personnel to achieve project completion on schedule, within budget, and with quality workmanship.
  • Maintains construction schedules, identifies and resolves problems.
  • Orders equipment and materials; schedules inspections as required.
  • Accurately tracks and accounts for all material and equipment on site; provides required reports.
  • Interprets project plans, specifications, and safety policies.
  • Maintains positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and employees.
  • Prepares, schedules, and supervises completion of final punch list and close-out documents.
  • Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices, and rectifies hazards immediately.
  • Administers daily and weekly reports; conducts required safety meetings.
  • Ensures adherence to company safety policies by all employees and contractors.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized job site.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience as a commercial construction Superintendent.
  • High rise, supermarket, or retail experience is beneficial.
  • Experience in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control, and production across all commercial construction divisions.
  • Experience managing multiple projects.
  • OSHA 10 Hour, CPR, and First Aid certification required.
  • Proficient in computer and iPad technology; able to use construction software programs.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with a systematic approach to tasks.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; effective listening and computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
  • Analytical problem-solving with sound, timely decision-making based on objectives, risks, and costs.
  • Mature demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse personalities.
  • Self-starting, highly motivated, and goal-oriented with acute attention to detail and quality.
  • Safety and quality-oriented; confident, assertive, ethical, and ambitious.
  • Team player with a friendly and outgoing demeanor in social environments.
